Description

Korean BBQ steak bowls with bell peppers, spinach, and crunchy toppings tossed in a spicy sesame ginger dressing.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 2/3 cup low sodium soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup mirin
  • 1 tablespoon fresh minced or crushed ginger
  • 1 tablespoon toasted sesame oil
  • 23 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 12 tablespoons sambal oelek
  • 5 cloves garlic
  • 1 lb top sirloin steak thinly sliced
  • 2 bell peppers sliced
  • 2 handfuls spinach
  • wonton strips
  • scallions
  • sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Blend soy sauce, mirin, ginger, sesame oil, brown sugar, sambal oelek, and garlic until smooth.
  2. Place steak in a bag and coat with dressing. Refrigerate 1 to 2 hours.
  3. Heat a heavy pan over high heat.
  4. Remove steak from marinade and discard used marinade.
  5. Cook steak in hot pan for 1 to 2 minutes until browned and cooked to desired doneness.
  6. Combine cooked steak with bell peppers and spinach.
  7. Toss with dressing.
  8. Top with wonton strips, scallions, and sesame seeds before serving.

Notes

  1. Add kimchi or seaweed for extra flavor.
  2. A soft boiled egg also works well as a topping.
  3. Store extra dressing in the refrigerator for later use.
