Description

Korean Ground Beef Bowl is a quick and flavorful weeknight dinner that combines sweet, savory, and mildly spicy beef with colorful veggies over fluffy rice. It’s a 30-minute meal that’s customizable, family-friendly, and perfect for meal prep or busy evenings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 500 g (1 lb) ground beef

  • 2 cups (370 g) cooked white rice

  • 1 cup (150 g) mixed vegetables (bell peppers, carrots, snap peas)

  • 2 Tbsp (30 ml) soy sauce

  • 1 Tbsp (12 g) brown sugar

  • 1 Tbsp (15 ml) sesame oil

  • ½ tsp (1 g) red pepper flakes

  • 1 tsp (5 ml) sriracha (optional)

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • Green onions and sesame seeds, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  • Cook Beef – Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add ground beef and cook 7–10 min, breaking up with a spatula, until browned.

  • Add Garlic – Stir in minced garlic and cook 1 min, until fragrant.

  • Make Sauce – Mix in soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, red pepper flakes, and sriracha (if using). Stir well to coat beef.

  • Simmer – Lower heat and simmer 5 min so flavors meld and sauce slightly thickens.

  • Steam Veggies – While beef simmers, steam mixed vegetables for 5 min until tender-crisp.

  • Assemble Bowls – Spoon warm rice into bowls, top with beef mixture, add veggies, and garnish with green onions and sesame seeds. Serve immediately.

Notes

Adjust spice by increasing or omitting sriracha and red pepper flakes.

Works great with ground turkey or chicken instead of beef.

For meal prep, store beef and rice separately and reheat before serving.

Use leftover rice to save time and enhance texture.
