  • 500g shredded Kunafa dough (kataifi)
  • 750g Nutella
  • 100g melted butter or ghee
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tsp lemon juice or rose water
  • Ground pistachios for garnish (optional)

Instructions

1️⃣ Prepare the Dough: If using frozen Kunafa dough, let it thaw completely. Separate the strands gently so they don’t clump together.

2️⃣ Make the Sugar Syrup: In a saucepan, combine sugar and water, bringing it to a gentle boil. Stir until sugar dissolves, then add lemon juice or rose water. Let it simmer for 5 minutes, then set aside to cool.

3️⃣ Layer the Kunafa: Grease a baking dish with melted butter or ghee. Spread half of the Kunafa dough at the bottom, pressing lightly.

4️⃣ Add Nutella: Spread Nutella evenly over the first layer of Kunafa, ensuring full coverage.

5️⃣ Top Layer: Spread the remaining Kunafa dough on top, gently pressing it down to secure the filling. Drizzle the remaining melted butter over the top for extra crispiness.

6️⃣ Bake: Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Bake for 30-40 minutes, or until the Kunafa turns golden brown and crispy.

7️⃣ Syrup Time: Once out of the oven, immediately pour the warm sugar syrup over the hot Kunafa. Allow it to soak in for a few minutes.
