- 1 cup whole milk
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 dash salt
- 1 quart sweetened peaches, drained slightly if very syrupy
- Whipped cream or vanilla ice cream, for serving
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F.
- Place the stick of butter in a 9-by-13-inch baking dish and set the dish in the oven until the butter melts.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- Add the milk and whisk until the batter looks smooth and pourable.
- Carefully remove the hot baking dish from the oven.
- Pour the batter evenly over the melted butter, but do not stir.
- Spoon the peaches evenly over the batter, but do not stir.

- Let the cobbler rest for 10 to 15 minutes before serving.
- Serve warm with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
Notes
- Do not stir the batter into the butter or the peaches into the batter.
- Use real butter for the richest flavor and crispest edges.
- Add 1 teaspoon vanilla extract to the batter for extra flavor.
- Add 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon over the peaches for a warmer dessert.
- Refrigerate leftovers in an airtight container for up to 4 days.
