Description

Quick and easy low calorie bagels made with Greek yogurt. These homemade bagels are high in protein, lightly golden, soft inside, and perfect for a healthy breakfast.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 5 oz all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup nonfat Greek yogurt
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar
  • Extra flour for kneading

Instructions

  1. Add the flour to a large bowl
  2. Mix in the sea salt, baking powder, and brown sugar
  3. Add the Greek yogurt and stir until a dough forms
  4. Beat the egg and mix most of it into the dough, reserving a small amount for egg wash
  5. Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for 5 minutes
  6. Divide the dough into 4 equal pieces
  7. Roll each piece into a cylinder and shape into bagels
  8. Preheat the oven to 350°F and line a baking sheet
  9. Place bagels on the sheet and brush with egg wash
  10. Bake on the top rack for 20 to 25 minutes until lightly browned

Notes

  1. Use thick nonfat Greek yogurt for best results
  2. Do not over-knead the dough
  3. Allow bagels to cool slightly before slicing
