Description

Moist on the inside, slightly crusty on top, this make ahead French toast casserole is filled with berries and baked to perfection. Ideal for brunch or holidays.


Ingredients

1214 cups French bread

8 large eggs

2 cups 2% milk

2 tsp vanilla extract

1 tsp cinnamon

2/3 cup brown sugar

1 cup strawberries (sliced)

1/2 cup blueberries

12 tbsp powdered sugar

Maple syrup (to serve)


Instructions

1. Grease a 9″x13″ casserole with butter or oil.

2. Cut up French bread into cubes and fill dish 3/4 full.

3. In a bowl, whisk eggs, milk, vanilla, cinnamon, and brown sugar.

4. Pour mixture evenly over bread and press gently.

5. Top with sliced strawberries and blueberries.

6. Cover and refrigerate for 4 hours or overnight.

7. Preheat oven to 350°F.

8. Bake 35–50 minutes until golden and set.

9. Dust with powdered sugar and serve with maple syrup.

Notes

Use day-old French bread for best texture.

Customize with your favorite berries or fruits.

Serve warm with syrup or whipped cream.
