Description

Frozen mango popsicles inspired by the classic Mexican mangonada, made with mango, citrus juice, chamoy, and Tajín for a sweet, tangy, and spicy treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups fresh-squeezed orange juice
  • Juice of ½ medium lime
  • 2 ½ cups frozen mango chunks
  • ⅓ cup liquid chamoy
  • Tajín seasoning to taste

Instructions

  1. Juice the oranges and lime.
  2. Add orange juice, lime juice, and frozen mango chunks to a blender and blend until smooth.
  3. Pour a few teaspoons of chamoy around the inside edges of each popsicle mold so it drips down the sides.
  4. Pour the mango mixture into the center of each mold without disturbing the chamoy streaks.
  5. Place the mold lid on and insert popsicle sticks.
  6. Freeze for at least 8 hours until completely solid.
  7. Run lukewarm water over the outside bottom of the mold to release the popsicles.
  8. Sprinkle Tajín on top or dip the tips of the popsicles in Tajín before serving.

Notes

  1. Use ripe mango for the best flavor.
  2. Frozen mango helps create a thicker mixture that freezes well.
  3. Adjust Tajín based on preferred spice level.
  4. Keep chamoy along the sides of the mold for the classic mangonada look.
