Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 3 tablespoons maple syrup
  • 23 tablespoons milk or cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F and line a 9×13-inch pan with parchment paper.
  2. Whisk flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a bowl.
  3. Beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy, then add eggs one at a time.
  4. Mix in vanilla and buttermilk, then fold in dry ingredients.
  5. Spread batter evenly in pan and bake 25–30 minutes until set.
  6. Whisk glaze ingredients until smooth and spread over warm bars.
  7. Cool, slice, and serve.

Notes

  1. Use real maple syrup for best flavor.
  2. Do not overmix batter to keep bars tender.
