Description

These Mexican-Style Cucumbers are a zesty, spicy snack made with crisp cucumber slices tossed in a chili-lime dressing. Fresh cilantro, a touch of sugar, and optional cayenne bring the perfect balance of tang, spice, and crunch. Ready in just 15 minutes, this refreshing side or appetizer is inspired by vibrant street-food flavors.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 large cucumbers, sliced into rounds or sticks (about 600 g)

  • 2 tbsp fresh lime juice (30 ml)

  • 1 tbsp chili powder (8 g)

  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper (optional, for extra heat)

  • 1/2 tsp salt (3 g)

  • 1/2 tsp black pepper (2 g)

  • 1 tsp sugar (4 g)

  • 2 tbsp fresh cilantro, finely chopped (10 g)

  • 1 tbsp olive oil (15 ml)

  • 1 fresh red chili, thinly sliced (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  • Wash cucumbers and slice into thin rounds or sticks. Place in a mixing bowl.

  • In a small bowl, whisk together lime juice, olive oil, chili powder, cayenne, salt, black pepper, and sugar until smooth.

  • Pour dressing over cucumbers and toss until evenly coated.

  • Add chopped cilantro and stir gently.

  • Garnish with fresh chili slices if desired.

  • Chill for 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

Add extra lime juice for more tang.

Sprinkle toasted pumpkin seeds for added crunch.

Make it milder by skipping cayenne.

A pinch of smoked paprika adds a subtle smoky twist.

Cucumbers may release liquid as they sit—just toss before serving.
