- 1 teaspoon orange zest optional
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and orange zest.
- Cut cold butter into the flour mixture until coarse crumbs form.
- Whisk egg, sour cream, heavy cream, and vanilla extract in a separate bowl.
- Mix wet ingredients into dry ingredients until just combined.
- Turn dough onto a floured surface and shape into a one inch thick circle.
- Cut dough into 8 triangles and place on prepared baking sheet.
- Brush tops with heavy cream.
- Bake for 15 to 16 minutes until golden brown.
- Whisk together melted butter, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, orange juice, and orange zest for the glaze.
- Drizzle glaze over cooled scones and serve.
