Description

This vibrant and tangy Orange Crush Poke Cake is the ultimate nostalgic treat! With every bite soaked in orange soda and gelatin, it’s bursting with flavor, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 box orange-flavored cake mix (prepared according to package)
  • 1 can Orange Crush soda (355ml)
  • 1 pack orange gelatin mix (85g)
  • 1 tub whipped topping (500ml)
  • Orange food coloring (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 175°C (350°F) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish. Mix the cake according to package instructions, but substitute Orange Crush for the water. Pour the batter into the dish and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  • Cool & poke holes: Allow the cake to cool for 10 minutes. Poke holes all over the cake using a toothpick or fork. Be generous—this ensures the gelatin seeps through.
  • Prepare the gelatin: Mix the orange gelatin according to package instructions. Pour it evenly over the cake, ensuring it fills the holes. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours to set.
  • Whipped topping: Spread the whipped topping evenly over the chilled cake. For extra color, mix in a few drops of orange food coloring into the whipped topping. Use a spatula to smooth it out.
  • Chill & serve: Refrigerate for an additional hour. Cut into squares and serve chilled, garnished with orange slices or sprinkles for an extra festive touch.

Notes

  • Soda Substitution: Replacing the water with Orange Crush soda in the cake mix not only adds citrus flavor but also gives the cake a lighter, fluffier texture due to the carbonation.
  • Poking Holes: The more holes you poke into the cake, the better the gelatin will seep in, ensuring that every bite is flavorful and moist.
  • Chilling Time: Allowing the cake to chill for at least 2 hours (preferably overnight) is essential for the gelatin to fully set, making the cake firm and easy to cut.
