Crunchy, sweet, and adorably spooky, Oreo spiders are the ultimate Halloween treat! Perfect for parties or a fun snack time, these creepy crawlers are as fun to make as they are to eat.
Ingredients
Oreo cookies: 12
Pretzel sticks: 48 (8 per spider)
Candy eyes: 24 (2 per spider)
Chocolate or icing: as needed for assembly
Instructions
- Separate each Oreo by gently twisting the cookies apart, keeping the filling intact.
- Break pretzel sticks into halves to create 8 legs per spider.
- Press the pretzel “legs” into the filling on one half of each Oreo. Position 4 on each side.
- Replace the top half of the Oreo, pressing gently to secure the legs. Use a bit of icing or melted chocolate if needed.
- Attach candy eyes to the top of the Oreo using a dab of icing or melted chocolate.
- Allow your spiders to set for 10–15 minutes if using chocolate or icing to secure components.
Notes
- Secure the Legs: To ensure the pretzel legs stay in place, use a small amount of melted chocolate or icing when attaching them to the Oreo filling. Let it set for a few minutes before moving on.
- Be Gentle: When twisting apart the Oreo cookies, do so carefully to avoid breaking them. If one breaks, save it for a fun “crushed spider” decoration!
- Storage Tip: Store Oreo spiders in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2–3 days. Avoid refrigeration, as it can make the pretzels soggy.
