Description
These red lentil patties are crispy on the outside, tender inside, and made with simple pantry ingredients. They are vegan, gluten-free, and ready in about 35 minutes.

- ¾ cup dry red lentils
- 1 cup vegetable broth or water
- 1 small red pepper, diced
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 garlic cloves, chopped
- 4 tbsp chickpea flour
- 1 tbsp ground chia seeds
- 3 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
- 1 tsp paprika powder
- ¾ tsp ground cumin
- ½ tsp onion powder
- ½ tsp salt
- Black pepper to taste
- Red pepper flakes to taste
- Oil for frying
Instructions
- Rinse the red lentils under running water.
- Add lentils and broth to a pot and simmer for 15 minutes until soft with no liquid left.
- Heat oil in a skillet and sauté onion, pepper, and garlic until translucent.
- Add lentils, vegetables, spices, parsley, chia seeds, and flour to a food processor.
- Pulse briefly until combined but textured.
- Shape the mixture into 10 patties.
- Fry patties in a lightly oiled skillet for about 3 minutes per side until golden.
- Serve warm with a dip or side of choice.
Notes
- Use vegetable broth for deeper flavor.
- Add extra chickpea flour if the mixture feels too soft.
- These patties can also be baked or air-fried with light oil.
