- 3/4 cup cocoa powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 12 Reese’s Peanut Butter CupsOptional Peanut Butter Frosting:
- 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 2 tbsp milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8×8-inch pan with parchment paper.
- Make the Batter: In a large bowl, mix melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each. Stir in vanilla extract.
- Dry Ingredients: Sift flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Gradually fold into the wet ingredients. Do not overmix.
- Layer Brownie Batter: Spread half the brownie batter evenly into the prepared pan.
- Add Reese’s Cups: Place Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups evenly across the batter.
- Top Layer: Spread the remaining batter over the Reese’s cups, covering them completely.
- Bake: Bake for 25–30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out mostly clean.
- Cool: Allow brownies to cool completely in the pan before cutting.
- Optional Frosting: Beat peanut butter, softened butter, powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth. Spread over cooled brownies.
Notes
1️⃣ Don’t Overmix the Batter: Overmixing can lead to dense, tough brownies. Stir until the dry and wet ingredients are just combined for a fudgy texture.
2️⃣ Freeze Reese’s Cups Before Baking: Place the peanut butter cups in the freezer for 15 minutes before adding them to the batter. This prevents them from melting too much and sinking to the bottom.
3️⃣ Let Brownies Cool Completely: Patience is key! Allow the brownies to cool fully in the pan before cutting. This ensures clean slices and prevents them from falling apart.
