Scale
  • 2 pounds cucumbers, thinly sliced
  • 3 teaspoons salt
  • 3/4 cup chopped onion
  • 1 cup white vinegar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 tablespoon mustard seed
  • 1 tablespoon celery seed
  • 3 to 6 garlic cloves, peeled, bruised, and halved

Instructions

  2. Combine cucumbers, salt, and onion in a large bowl and toss well.
  3. Cover and let stand for 1 hour.
  4. Combine vinegar, water, sugar, garlic, celery seed, and mustard seed in a saucepan.
  5. Bring to a boil and cook for 2 minutes until sugar dissolves.
  6. Drain excess liquid from cucumber mixture.
