Description

These pumpkin-shaped Rice Krispie treats are the ultimate fall snack! Perfect for Halloween parties or cozy family gatherings, they’re cute, easy to make, and irresistibly delicious.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 (10 oz) package mini marshmallows
  • 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
  • Orange food coloring
  • 12 mini Rolos or Tootsie Rolls (for stems)
  • 12 green M&Ms or small green fruit roll-ups (for leaves)
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil or melted butter (to prevent sticking)

Instructions

  • Prepare Workspace: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Lightly coat your hands with vegetable oil or melted butter to prevent sticking.
  • Melt Butter and Marshmallows: In a large pot over low heat, melt the butter. Stir in the marshmallows until smooth and fully melted.
  • Add Food Coloring: Remove the pot from heat and stir in orange food coloring until evenly mixed.
  • Mix Rice Krispies: Gradually add the Rice Krispies cereal, folding gently to coat all the cereal without crushing it.
  • Shape the Pumpkins: Scoop portions of the mixture, roll them into balls (about baseball size), and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
  • Add Stems and Leaves: While warm, press a mini Rolo or Tootsie Roll into the top of each ball for the stem. Add a green M&M or a piece of fruit roll-up next to the stem for a leaf.
  • Set the Treats: Let the treats cool and set at room temperature for about 30 minutes. Once firm, serve and enjoy!

Notes

  • Work Quickly with Warm Mixture: The marshmallow mixture sets quickly, so shape the pumpkins and add the stems and leaves while the mixture is still warm and pliable. Lightly oil your hands to avoid sticking.
  • Even Coloring: Add food coloring gradually to achieve the desired shade of orange. Stir well for an even color throughout the mixture.
  • Storage Tip: Store the cooled treats in an airtight container to keep them fresh and chewy for up to 3 days. For longer storage, refrigerate or freeze individually wrapped treats.
