Description

Cooking salmon in a convection oven brings out the fish’s natural richness with a perfectly crisp exterior and a moist, flaky interior. This method is quick, consistent, and ideal for both weeknight meals and gourmet presentations, allowing flexibility in seasonings, marinades, and accompaniments.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 salmon fillets (6 oz each), skin-on or skinless

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil or melted butter

  • ½ teaspoon salt

  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder

  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

  • Optional: fresh herbs (dill, parsley, thyme), lemon zest, paprika

Instructions

  1. Preheat Convection Oven: Preheat to 400°F (200°C).

  2. Prepare Salmon: Pat salmon fillets dry with paper towels. Place them on a lightly greased baking tray or parchment-lined sheet, skin side down.

  3. Season: Brush salmon with olive oil or butter. Sprinkle with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and lemon juice. Add any optional herbs or spices to taste.

  4. Bake: Place the tray on the middle rack. Bake for 10–12 minutes, depending on thickness, or until the internal temperature reaches 145°F (63°C) and the salmon flakes easily with a fork.

  5. Optional Broil: For a crispier top, broil for the final 1–2 minutes.

  6. Rest & Serve: Let rest 2–3 minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh herbs or lemon slices if desired.

Notes

For Frozen Salmon: Add 5–7 minutes to cooking time; ensure it reaches 145°F (63°C).

For Extra Moisture: Bake in foil or parchment (en papillote).

Healthy Marinade Option: Mix olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, and herbs for a lighter flavor profile.

Reheating: Warm at 275°F (135°C) for 10–12 minutes to preserve moisture.
