Description

Shrimp Dirty Rice is a hearty Cajun-style dish made with shrimp, sausage, vegetables, and seasoned rice cooked together in one skillet.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 cup long-grain white rice
  • 1/2 lb ground pork sausage
  • 1 green bell pepper, diced
  • 1 celery stalk, diced
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 teaspoon Cajun seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
  • Hot sauce, optional

Instructions

  1. Prepare shrimp and chop all vegetables.
  2. Cook sausage in olive oil until browned.
  3. Add vegetables and cook until softened.
  4. Stir in garlic, spices, and rice.
  5. Pour in broth and simmer until rice is tender.
  6. Add shrimp and cook until pink.
  7. Season and garnish with parsley.

Notes

  1. Adjust spice level to taste.
  2. Do not overcook shrimp.
  3. Reheat gently with broth if needed.
