Description

Southern Strawberry Sweet Tea embodies the heart of Southern hospitality, merging the rich taste of traditional sweet tea with the fresh zest of strawberries. It’s a tribute to leisurely afternoons, filled with joy and the comfort of family. Each sip is a journey through the South’s cherished moments, offering a blend of nostalgia and newness. This tea isn’t just a refreshment; it’s an invitation to savor life’s simple, sweet moments.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 45 family-size tea bags (Luzianne or your favorite brand for that authentic southern taste)
  • 6 cups of water, divided for brewing and mixing
  • 4 cups of ripe strawberries (to make about 1 cup of juice)
  • 1 1/2 cups of granulated sugar (adjust to taste if you prefer it less sweet)
  • Optional garnishes: Fresh strawberries or mint leaves to add a pop of color and freshness

Instructions

  1. Brew the Tea: Start by boiling two cups of water. Remove from heat, add the tea bags, and let them steep for about 10 minutes. Then, discard the tea bags.
  2. Prepare the Strawberries: While the tea is steeping, take your ripe strawberries and dice them up. Toss them into a food processor and puree until smooth.
  3. Strain the Juice: Use a mesh strainer to press out the juice from the pureed strawberries. Discard the pulp.
  4. Mix It Up: In a large pitcher, combine the brewed tea, strawberry juice, and sugar. Stir well until the sugar dissolves completely.
  5. Add Cold Water: Stir in the remaining 4 cups of cold water. This will ensure your tea is refreshing and ready to drink.
  6. Chill: Refrigerate your tea until it’s ice cold. This enhances the flavors and makes it the perfect antidote to a hot day.
  7. Serve: Pour the chilled tea over ice. If you like, add frozen strawberries or fresh mint as a garnish.

Notes

Frozen strawberries can be used when fresh aren’t available.

Use sugar substitutes to make it diabetic-friendly.

Clear pitchers and glasses enhance presentation.

Can be made ahead and stored for up to 5 days in the fridge.
