Ingredients
2 cups all-purpose flour (240 g)
1 ¾ cups granulated sugar (350 g)
¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder (65 g)
2 tsp baking powder (8 g)
1 ½ tsp baking soda (6 g)
1 tsp salt (5 g)
2 large eggs
1 cup whole milk (240 ml)
½ cup vegetable oil (120 ml)
2 tsp pure vanilla extract (10 ml)
1 cup boiling water (240 ml)
150 g finely chopped dark Swiss chocolate
Butter and flour for greasing pans
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla. Beat until smooth.
Stir in boiling water and chopped Swiss chocolate until fully combined.
Pour batter evenly into prepared pans.
Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
Cool in pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Frost or garnish as desired, or serve plain with fresh berries and powdered sugar.

Letting the cake sit overnight enhances its flavor.
