Description

Tender Carne Asada made with a flavorful marinade and simple grilling method that creates juicy, tender steak with bold flavor.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 lbs skirt steak or flank steak
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/3 cup fresh lime juice
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 6 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon ancho chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 kiwi mashed

Instructions

  1. Pat steak dry and poke holes with a fork
  2. Mix soy sauce, lime juice, olive oil, sugar, garlic, cumin, chili powder, onion powder, and black pepper
  3. Place steak in marinade and refrigerate for 3 to 9 hours
  4. Add mashed kiwi during the last 30 minutes of marinating
  5. Preheat grill to high heat until very hot
  6. Grill steak for 3 to 5 minutes per side until charred
  7. Remove from grill and rest for 5 minutes
  8. Slice thinly against the grain and serve

Notes

  1. Do not leave kiwi in marinade longer than 30 minutes
  2. Use fresh lime juice for best flavor
  3. Preheat grill fully before cooking
  4. Always slice against the grain for tenderness
