Description

Homemade pizza with a kick! Bold chorizo, melted mozzarella, and crispy crust combine to create the ultimate spicy delight. Perfect for pizza night with family and friends!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 ball pizza dough (homemade or store-bought)
  • 1/2 cup tomato sauce (marinara or arrabbiata)
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup cheddar cheese, shredded (optional)
  • 1/3 cup parmesan cheese, grated
  • 1/2 cup cooked Mexican chorizo (crumbled) or sliced Spanish chorizo
  • 1/4 cup caramelized onions
  • 1/4 cup thinly sliced bell peppers (optional)
  • 12 jalapeños, sliced
  • Fresh basil leaves (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven: Set your oven to 475°F (245°C). If using a pizza stone, preheat it along with the oven.
  2. Prepare the dough: Roll out the pizza dough on a floured surface to a 12-inch circle. Place it on parchment paper or a preheated pizza stone/baking sheet.
  3. Layer the base: Spread the tomato sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a 1-inch border around the edges.
  4. Add cheese: Sprinkle mozzarella cheese evenly over the sauce. Add a layer of cheddar if using, followed by a sprinkle of parmesan.
  5. Top it off: Scatter cooked chorizo across the pizza. Add caramelized onions, bell peppers, and jalapeño slices.
  6. Bake: Slide the pizza into the oven and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbling and slightly browned.
  7. Garnish and serve: Remove from the oven and let it cool for a minute. Sprinkle fresh basil leaves on top. Slice and serve hot!

Notes

1️⃣ Balance the Toppings: Don’t overload your pizza with too many toppings, as it can make the crust soggy. Keep it balanced to let the chorizo shine as the star of the dish.

2️⃣ Pre-cook the Chorizo: If using Mexican chorizo, always cook it beforehand to prevent excess grease and ensure it’s fully cooked when added to the pizza.

3️⃣ High Heat for Crispy Crust: Preheating the oven to a high temperature (475°F/245°C) ensures a crispy crust and perfectly melted cheese. A pizza stone helps distribute heat evenly for the best results.
