Description

The perfect cozy drink for chilly evenings, combining the creamy sweetness of vanilla, the bold spices of chai, and the rich decadence of dark chocolate. It’s like a warm hug in a mug!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups milk (dairy or plant-based)
  • 1 cup dark chocolate, chopped or chips
  • 1 tablespoon chai tea blend (or chai spices)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons sugar (adjust to taste)
  • A pinch of cinnamon
  • A pinch of nutmeg (optional)
  • Whipped cream or marshmallows (optional topping)

Instructions

  • In a medium-sized saucepan, heat milk over medium heat, stirring occasionally to prevent burning.
  • Once the milk is warm, add dark chocolate and sugar. Stir until the chocolate melts completely and the mixture is smooth.
  • Add the chai tea blend or spices. Stir well and let simmer for 2-3 minutes to infuse the flavors.
  • Remove the saucepan from heat, and stir in the vanilla extract.
  • Pour into a mug, and top with whipped cream or marshmallows, if desired.
  • Garnish with a sprinkle of cinnamon or nutmeg for extra flavor.

Notes

  • Chai Spice Balance: Be careful not to overpower the chocolate with too many spices. Start with a small amount and adjust to your taste. You can always add more, but you can’t take it out!
  • Milk Matters: The type of milk you use affects the creaminess. For a rich texture, go for whole milk or coconut milk. Lighter options like almond or oat milk will still work but provide a slightly different flavor.
  • Sweetness Control: The sugar level can be adjusted easily. If you’re using sweetened plant-based milk or chocolate, reduce the sugar to avoid an overly sweet drink. Taste as you go!
