Ingredients
Scale
- 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter (softened)
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
- 1/2 cup peanut butter
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Hershey’s Kisses (about 24 pieces)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
- Mix dry ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
- Cream wet ingredients: In a large bowl, beat butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until fluffy. Add peanut butter, egg, and vanilla extract, and mix until smooth.
- Combine and form dough: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture. Mix until just combined. If the dough feels sticky, chill in the refrigerator for 15 minutes.
- Shape the cookies: Roll dough into 1-inch balls. Place on the prepared baking sheet, spaced about 2 inches apart.
- Bake: Bake for 8–10 minutes until the edges are golden and the tops are set.
- Add the Kisses: Remove from the oven and immediately press a Hershey’s Kiss into the center of each cookie. Let cool on the sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
Notes
- Chill the Dough if Necessary: If your dough feels sticky, refrigerate it for 10–15 minutes before rolling. This helps the cookies hold their shape and prevents spreading during baking.
- Add the Kisses Quickly but Gently: Press the Hershey’s Kisses into the cookies immediately after baking while they’re still warm, but be gentle to avoid melting the chocolate excessively.
- Avoid Overbaking: Take the cookies out as soon as the edges are lightly golden, even if the centers look slightly soft. They’ll continue to firm up as they cool, ensuring a soft, chewy texture.
