Description

Soft, cheesy pull-apart Christmas tree bread filled with gooey mozzarella and brushed with fresh herbed butter.


Ingredients

Scale

3 cups bread flour

1 tsp instant dry yeast

1 tsp sugar

1 tsp kosher salt

1 cup milk or water

2 tbsp unsalted butter

8½ oz mozzarella, cubed

1 egg

1 tbsp water

¼ cup melted butter

1 tbsp each basil, parsley, rosemary

½ cup grated Parmesan

Red pepper flakes

Marinara for dipping


Instructions

1. Combine all dough ingredients except butter. Let rest 10 minutes.

2. Knead 10–15 minutes until smooth. Rise 1–1.5 hours.

3. Cut cheese into 30 cubes.

4. Divide dough into 20g balls. Fill each with cheese.

5. Arrange balls in Christmas tree shape. Proof 1 hour.

6. Preheat oven to 425°F. Apply egg wash.

7. Bake 20 minutes until golden.

8. Brush with herb butter, sprinkle Parmesan and pepper flakes.

9. Serve warm with marinara.

Notes

Freeze unbaked balls for later use.

Add festive toppings for decoration.
