450 g (1 lb) whole wheat spaghetti

85 g (6 tablespoons) butter, plus more for serving

8 cloves garlic, minced

1 large bunch fresh basil, chopped

1 large bunch baby spinach, chopped

2 teaspoons salt

1 teaspoon black pepper

Parmigiano Reggiano cheese, for topping
Instructions

Cook Spaghetti: Boil a large pot of salted water. Cook spaghetti until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Make Garlic Butter Sauce: In a large skillet, melt butter over medium-low heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for 3–5 minutes until soft and fragrant, without browning.

Add Herbs: Chop basil and spinach (about 5 cups total). Add to the skillet and sauté for 1–2 minutes until slightly wilted. Add salt.

Combine: Toss the cooked spaghetti into the skillet with herbs and garlic butter. Add black pepper. Mix well to coat.

Serve: Let the pasta sit for a few minutes. Serve with an extra pat of butter and plenty of grated Parmigiano Reggiano.
Notes
Use fresh herbs for best flavor.
Avoid browning the garlic to keep the sauce sweet and mild.
Customize with other herbs like parsley or add protein like grilled chicken or mushrooms.
